In 1989 Lori was invited to become a member of the Casting Society of America, the professional organization of casting directors in the U.S. She was awarded the Casting Director of the Year award (2005) by the Film Recording and Entertainment Committee. (FREC) Lori was also nominated for 3 Artios Awards for the Showtime series "Dexter" and HBO's "Recount." She has also been nominated for an emmy and won the Artios award for casting HBO'S Recount. As a teacher and a professional actress for over 24 years, Della has worked in film and TV with the likes of Jane Kaczmarek, Vanessa Redgrave and Larry Hagman.  She has appeared on "In the Heat of the Night", "Savannah" and continues to work in film and TV, commercials, corporate video, voice-over and print.  Working as a talent agent with one of Atlanta's top agencies gave her a knowledge and appreciation for the needs of both actors and producers.  Della has been a director and production coordinator and enjoys sharing her experience and love of the business with aspiring actors.

Before I describe my background and reason for writing a Q&A column for actors and other entertainment industry members, I want to express my admiration for your courage and zeal in being in this tough business in the first place!  

My background includes more than twenty years in this business as a manager and lawyer. For the last five years I have been an instructor at UCLA Extension of a course I created called "This Business of Acting", and I recently authored a book/novella for actors and others entitled "How To Get Arrested." 

My reason for writing a column is to provide valuable information to those who need their questions answered and to give hope and support regarding my belief that everyone can make it in this business!
